  • Calculate equivalent P.bv and dynamic gas force from press test to determine preload on the icpsring.
  • However, the act gas force will be approx 1-2 lbs higher than calculated due to thermal expansion of the hot ctg oil. 
  • For a more accurate icspr preload, set preload so the calculated icspr force is about 1-2 lbs less than actual.

Fork pressure tests do not include the full fork, but only the (sealed) twin chamber cartridge assembly.  Gas forces are removed from the test allowing analysis of the hydraulic damping force only.  The fork ctg gas force is reliant on the stiffness of the icspring and icspr preload.
If ctg gas force is known*, the icspr preload can be calculated on this page..
